Students majoring in the biological sciences are expected to meet the following goals

Goal 1: Students of biology will be able to design experiments, evaluate results, and communicate science

Objectives

  1. Explain the terminology
  2. Generate a hypothesis in your field
  3. Develop an experimental design
  4. Evaluate data and communicate results

Goal 2: Students of biology can apply biological principles to new situations

Objectives

  1. Identify foundational biological principles
  2. Examine data supporting principles
  3. Apply biological principles to new situations
  4. Evaluate evidence regarding the principles

Goal 3: Students of biology can interpret and apply the interdisciplinary nature of biological science

Objectives

  1. Identify different sub-disciplines of biology
  2. Analyze common principles
  3. Categorize the distinct principles in specific fields
  4. Use the inference to determine how specific concepts in particular sub-disciplines inform entire living system functions
